The reception for Charlene Morrison’s Arts and Crafts show was outstanding to say the least. Charlene had a special display of her childhood art works that began with her third grade work (how did her mother know to save all this art?) it continued throughout her high school years and onward. People were very interested in the evolution of artistic talent that Charlene displayed throughout her life.
Added to all the festivities was the manner in which Charlene set up a little contest with the prize being one of her original water color paintings on display. She had placed placed hidden questions and your job was to locate the answers, surprisingly enough people loved this and there were quite a few entries in the jar. Charlene had also arranged to have some wonderful music performed by Chad Moody and his wife Megan. Megan sings, plays and composes music and they were really great listening to with soft mood melodies.
Along with the great music we had the best of appetizers as Charlene had prepared most of them herself. Charlene is a great chef so we had lots of delicacies to choose including cookies for the cookey monster types. Other artist members also brought in goodies, we all managed to put together a plate of food to enjoy.
The wine selections were great as usual. Leroy Schoot had a new winery and offered a couple of selections from the Jacob Williams Winery along with other selections from Wines of the Neighborhood vineyards. All of them are excellent choices depending on your preference for white or reds. I personally indulged in a glass of the Cabernet Sauvignon crafted by the Jacob Williams Winery, really rich and full of flavor.
And the winners are – Esther and grandson John Hanna. They had a hard time choosing just which picture would be the best choice because they were going to use it as a gift for John’s mom (Esther’s daughter) The choice narrowed down to a couple and finally the lovely cactus flower was chosen. The evening was a great success with at least 75 people attending and everyone enjoyed themselves. Next month the featured artist will be Dorothy Walter.
