The Golden Art Gallery

Fabric Designers Reception, June 2010

Posted by: jaypea13 on: June 13, 2010

Superb is about the best way to describe the works of three of the areas best fabric artists. Sandra Choate had done a three panel story of Joan of Arc. She also has a charming line of recycled children’s clothing crafted from those lovely old printed table cloths. Janice Christiansen created some truly unique pieces that reflect her original and creative approach which is somewhat abstract but always strong compositions. Sarah Cardo brought in several fabulous pieces of wall art that have to be seen in person to appreciate fully. She also has a very original and stunning line of belly dancer items, belts that glitter with beads and crystals. the ladies planned a lovely show for us.

There was high interest in the artist card exchange, we set out colored pencils and some paper, glue and beads and bits of cloth. Just like magic new cards appeared and some old ones were taken.   Somebody was usually at the table creating and enjoying the artistic experience. As a total surprise I came across two of the ladies from Ruralight magazine who happened to be looking at my art work.   I stopped to chat with them and found out they were going to do a feature article for Ruralite. I was thrilled that they had chosen to come to our gallery in Goldendale.  Looking forward to seeing it written up.   We also were treated to the guitar styling of Star Meichtry, thank you so much Star.
The wine selections were done just a little differently this time and all were from Waving Tree Winery. This little winery is located on the banks of the Columbia river and is in the very tiny hamlet of Maryhill. Small in size but mighty in taste, all the choices were excellent including his new chardonnay. There were about 50 people coming and going and all were impressed by the art displays, the food snacks were outstanding. Mike Kitchen brought over some very special appetizers created by his chefs at Windy Ridge cafe. Thank you so much Mike.  Mike is also a great supporter of the arts in our gallery and has purchased several pieces to decorate the restaurant.
I have to say that the evening was very pleasant and successful. If you have never attended one of our receptions do come next time when we will feature an outside painter, July 8 will be the reception.
